					<description>&lt;p&gt;Just looking at languages, Pascal is my favorite. Sure, Delphi does not have generics etc. yet, but from the language perspective I find Pascal to be a lot more readable than other common languages. It also has less use of special characters.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My gaps are somewhat wider than yours... 1998-1999 was Java... then nothing till this year except Java and more Java (well a little AspectJ last year) :-)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I'm digging into Scala when I've got time, and it's pretty cool. There's DEFINITELY a learning curve, since I haven't looked at functional programming since Scheme back in '93 or so... &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A few others have been blogging about Scala as well (Ted Neward and a guy named Debashish ) so it looks like it's getting some attention. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Keep us posted on what you're doing with it.&lt;/p&gt;
